Henley Construction recently completed the new Maryvale Elementary School and Carl Sandburg Learning Center in Rockville, Maryland.
The new school encompasses three school programs including elementary school education, a learning center for students with Autism and a French emersion program. The original building was built in 1969 and was beyond renovation. The project included the demolition of the original structure and construction of the new school building totaling 178,570 square feet situated in the middle of a 17.57 acre site. Separate bus loop lanes will be provided for the individual programs with a shared use student drop-off lane and parking for 176 cars and 27 buses. New stormwater management was installed with the latest Environmental Site Design regulations. New athletic fields, basketball courts, and extensive play areas are located behind the new school.
